Checklist for REeporting VAluation STudiEs (CREATE)

A recent review of published EQ-5D valuation studies identified much heterogeneity in the selection and reporting of study design, respondents, elicitation techniques, modeling approaches, and relevant statistics. These publications are often the only source for potential users of utility measures such as the EQ-5D to evaluate the methodological rigor of a valuation study. We felt there is a need to ensure important elements pertinent to the valuation study are adequately and properly reported in the publications. The main goal of this study was to develop a reporting checklist for valuation studies of multi-attribute utility-based instruments (i.e. CREATE) to promote transparent reporting of valuation studies.

This study was sponsored by the EuroQol Research Foundation and Dr. Feng Xie was the principal investigator.
